The Victorville Emergency Communications Service , otherwise known as ECS is a volunteer program under the Victorville Fire Department Office of Emergency Services which supplements their existing emergency communications. The ECS is comprised of a group of volunteers who hold an FCC issued HAM Radio license. These members volunteer their time to provide Auxiliary Emergency Communications for the City of Victorville.
MISSION:
The ECS mission is to serve the Victorville Office of Emergency Services in support of any possible need relative to communications in an emergency. This means far more than being activated in sporadic emergencies. It includes day-to-day involvement in the affairs of that agency. In effect, ECS becomes an integrated aspect of the sponsoring agency staff, albeit unpaid.
DUTIES:
For the City of Victorville, the ECS unit of the Office of Emergency Services (OES) provides a variety of professional non paid skills, including emergency tactical, administrative and logistical communications for all government agencies between the County and City Governments and neighboring State Agencies. This includes operations on all authorized equipment and frequencies in support of ANY eventual disaster.
